Ghost Trace

Ghost Trace is a narrative desktop thriller about grief, hidden evidence, and institutional cover-up.

You play as Nacho Varela, a young man investigating the death of his mother after discovering that the official version of the case does not add up. What begins as a personal search quickly turns into a deeper intrusion into sealed federal systems, erased surveillance records, internal communications, and hidden archives.

Through a simulated desktop interface, you will open files, inspect reports, mark clues, access restricted folders, and use terminal commands to push deeper into the truth.

What is Ghost Trace?

Ghost Trace is a short story-driven experience that combines:

• desktop-style exploration
• document investigation
• terminal interaction
• hacking minigames
• clue marking
• branching narrative decisions

The entire game is played through an in-world computer interface, making every folder, report, message and locked archive part of the investigation itself.

Read files, mark clues, and use the terminal to push deeper into the case.

How it plays

Your investigation unfolds in layers.

You begin with local files: personal notes, voice logs, a draft message, and early clues left behind by your mother.

From there, you move into hidden federal directories, recover altered medical records, inspect witness statements, reconstruct surveillance footage, read internal mail threads, and piece together a larger conspiracy.

As you progress, you can:

• read and compare documents
• mark important clues directly inside files
• use the terminal to scan, open and hack new nodes
• unlock restricted folders
• track evidence and objectives
• choose how to act once the truth is finally exposed
